Whether it’s an interior or exterior project, the home’s square-foot footprint provides a starting point. Because condition, location, scope, and access can vary considerably, this formula provides only a broad price range and a general idea of what the project may cost.

These are general starting ranges, not quotes. I offer free estimates and pass my contractor discount on paint and primer directly to my customers. I do not mark up materials. My pricing typically includes 15% business overhead on labor only.
Most quality exterior paint jobs should last at least 10 years, but a properly prepared and coated home can last considerably longer. Climate, sun exposure, moisture, siding type, previous coatings, surface preparation, and paint quality all affect longevity. At Bull & Bear Painting, I focus heavily on preparation because the longevity of a paint job depends on what happens before the finish coat goes on.
If you see fading, chalking, cracking, peeling, exposed substrate, or failing caulk, it may be time for an exterior inspection.

Interior painting costs depend on the scope of work, the condition of the surfaces, the number of colors, the paint sheen, and whether we are painting only the walls and ceilings or the entire interior - including trim, baseboards, how many closets, sills, and doors.
As a general starting point, paint one room walls only $450-$600 + painting the walls and ceilings of an average 1,500-square-foot home may cost around $3,500-$5,000. A complete interior paint job - including walls, ceilings, doors, baseboards, window trim, preparation, primer, and finish coats - will often range from $10,000 to $15,000.
The order of operations also affects the final price. When I can prepare the entire house and complete the trim package - including windowsills, door jambs, baseboards, and doors - as one continuous production process, it reduces repeated setup and masking. This allows me to deliver a higher-quality finish in a more timely and cost-effective manner.
On New Construction Projects "Get in where you can Fit In"
I understand that I must work around the schedules of other trades, so there is no single rigid order that applies to every project. I can adapt my workflow as needed, but interruptions or changes to the most efficient production sequence may require additional labor and will be priced accordingly.
Proper film thickness matters. A common application target is approximately 4 mils wet to achieve 1 mil dry, depending on the coating manufacturer’s specifications. Fresh drywall and new texture are thirsty surfaces. Primer may cover only about 200 sq. ft. per gallon. The first finish coat may cover around 300 sq. ft. per gallon, while the second coat may reach approximately 400 sq. ft. per gallon as the surface becomes sealed.

My entire painting operation fits inside this small, fuel-efficient van. It is a humble but capable setup that allows me to travel efficiently - from the rural mountains of the Olympic Peninsula to the communities of Oregon's Willamette Valley.
For the right project, I am willing to travel anywhere in Washington and Oregon.

I am both the contractor and the painter responsible for your project. I perform my own work - from gutter cleaning and rental turnarounds to residential repaints and custom new construction.
